Job Overview
The ideal candidate will have experience in managing pay frequencies for small to medium-sized businesses in Northern Ireland, providing administrative support for payroll services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Liaise with clients regarding payroll matters
* Update spreadsheets of payrolls to be processed
* Enter new employees onto software using a starter checklist and/or P45
* Verify HMRC for student loans or tax code changes
* Process payrolls to meet client deadlines
* Calculate employee salaries as per client instructions, including sick pay, holidays, SMP, etc.
* Take client calls regarding payroll queries
* Contact HMRC for PAYE queries on behalf of clients
* Send payslips, P45s, and P60s as requested
* Process year-end tasks
* Email/upload P60s at year-end
* Pension contributions from employees and employers are uploaded to respective pension schemes
* Complete pension regulator declarations of compliance for clients prior to re-enrolment dates
* Perform ad-hoc duties as required
Essential Eligibility Criteria:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in an accountancy practice/payroll bureau
* Previous experience as the first point of contact with clients or employees
* Previous experience in payroll processing within a computerised environment
* Good working knowledge of practical payroll matters and current legislation
* Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Word
* Attention to detail
* Strong problem-solving and planning abilities
* Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
