The role
Role Title: Laboratory Scientist
Role Type: Contract
Location: Dublin 18
Our client is a leading provider of genomics and molecular biology services, supporting biopharmaceutical, clinical, and research organisations. Operating within a state-of-the-art laboratory environment, the organisation delivers high-quality genomic and multi-omic data from a variety of biological sample sources, supporting customers with both raw data and analytical reporting solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities

Perform and supervise a variety of laboratory workflows using both routine and specialised techniques and methodologies in areas including:
DNA/RNA isolation
PCR and qPCR
Microarray platforms for genotyping and methylation analysis
Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies
Comply with all applicable clinical laboratory standards, protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and record maintenance.
Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are processed in the same manner as routine specimens.
Adhere to laboratory quality control policies and document all quality control activities, instrument calibrations, maintenance activities, and procedural checks.
Coordinate equipment servicing and preventative maintenance activities in conjunction with laboratory personnel and project requirements.
Follow established procedures when test systems fall outside defined performance specifications.
Identify issues that may adversely impact test performance or reporting accuracy and either resolve them directly or escalated appropriately.
Manage daily laboratory workload through the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
Participate in laboratory cross-training programmes.
Maintain adequate stock levels of laboratory reagents, consumables, and materials.
Document corrective actions relating to deviations from established laboratory performance specifications.Comply with all laboratory health, safety, and infection control procedures.
Complete all quality system documentation and records in a timely manner.
Participate in internal and external audits as required.
Attend team meetings and training sessions as requested.
Utilise quality management systems and associated documentation platforms as part of daily operations.
Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of laboratory, customer, and organisational data.
Demonstrate an understanding of data privacy requirements and their importance within laboratory operations.
Adhere to company policies and procedures, including participation in performance review and development programmes.
Ensure compliance with applicable accreditation, regulatory, and quality standards, including CAP, CLIA, ISO 15189, and other relevant laboratory requirements.
Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, or a related scientific discipline.

Reporting Structure
The Laboratory Scientist I will report directly to the Senior Laboratory Scientist.
