We are recruiting a Financial Controller for a client in Swords, North County Dublin. The client is in the hospitality industry and it's a family run business. The role is part time, 3 days a week with flexibility.The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations. The role involves ensuring accurate reporting, sound financial planning, and effective internal controls. There is a combination of hands-on bookkeeping with higher-level financial management, supporting management in making informed operational and strategic decisions.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management & ReportingMaintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and journals.Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Produce timely management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, and cash-flow reports.Provide financial commentary and recommendations to management.Prepare budgets and forecasts aligned with business operations and seasonal variations.Cash Flow & BankingManage daily cash flow and bank reconciliations.Monitor revenue streams (rooms, food & beverage, events).Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure compliance.Manage accounts payable and receivable.Payroll & HR SupportProcess payroll for staff, including overtime, holiday pay, and tips.Ensure compliance with employment laws and payroll regulations.Maintain accurate employee financial records.Cost Control & PurchasingMonitor cost of sales (F&B, housekeeping supplies, utilities).Develop cost-saving strategies without compromising guest service.Approve supplier invoices and negotiate favourable terms where appropriate.Track inventory and support stock control processes.Compliance & AuditEnsure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and hotel industry standards.Prepare VAT/tax returns and liaise with external auditors and accountants.Maintain and update financial policies and internal controls.Systems & ProcessesOversee hotel PMS/POS integration with accounting systems.Improve efficiency of financial processes (automation, reporting, etc.).Manage licenses, insurance renewals, and financial documentation.Additional DutiesSupport operational managers with data-driven insights.Provide hands-on help during peak periods if required (e.g., stocktake, supplier checks).Leading a small team to include training & developmentSkills & Experience RequiredEssentialProven experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or Senior Accountant.Strong understanding of hospitality accounting and revenue streams.Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Sage) and hotel PMS/POS systems.Excellent analytical and numerical skills.Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ability to assist proactively with both revenue improvements and cost controlling measuresGood communication skills and ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.DesirableExperience working in hotels, restaurants, or hospitality.Knowledge of cost control systems for F&B and housekeeping.Familiarity with payroll software and HR processes.Experience in budgeting for seasonal or family-run businesses.QualificationsDegree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).ACCA/CIMA/ACA part-qualified or qualifiedEquivalent experience in hospitality accepted.Salary & BenefitsCompetitive salary commensurate with experience.Staff meals / Leisure MembershipFlexible working arrangementsFamily-business working environment.
