The Pharmacy Department strives to provide a safe and efficient pharmaceutical service to patients, adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety. As a Senior Pharmacist, you will play a key role in ensuring the effective use of medicines and promoting patient care.

Key Responsibilities

">
">
* Maintain an awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all hospital activities.
">
* Demonstrate behavior consistent with the values of the hospital.
">
* Create, promote, and maintain open communications and healthy working relationships.
">
* Participate in departmental mentor/mentee and tutor/tutee programs.
">
* Review medications for in- or out-patients prescribed treatment patients.
">
* Educate and counsel patients appropriately about their medications and manage side effects according to procedure.
">
* Closely interact with medical and nursing colleagues to advise them on the safe and effective use of medicines.
">
* Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, including the Pharmacy Act 2007.
">
* Perform regular clinical audits to measure, analyze, and optimize the medication use process.
">
* Provide training and advice on Pharmacy Department services to ward, nursing, medical, and pharmacy staff.
">
* Comply with all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, work safely and efficiently.

Skill Requirements

">
">
* Be a registered pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) or be entitled to be so registered.
">
* Have at least three years satisfactory post-registration hospital experience.
">
* Possess the requisite knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
">

Qualifications

* A degree in pharmacy from a recognized institution.

* Registration with the PSI as a pharmacist.

* At least three years of experience in a hospital setting.
