Job Overview

As a Mental Health Specialist, you will provide short-term therapeutic support to young people aged 12-25 years who are experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

This role involves working closely with the young person and sometimes their family members as well. You will be part of a transdisciplinary team based at one of our services across the country.


Key Responsibilities

* To undertake initial mental health assessments with young people focusing on both strengths and difficulties
* To provide evidence-informed brief, therapeutic interventions to young people
* To conduct risk assessments and implement risk management plans as appropriate
* To participate in clinical supervision and line management for support and guidance
* To work in accordance with our Policies, Procedures and Guidelines


Requirements

Essential Criteria:

* Qualifications & Registration/Accreditation - It is essential that you meet one of the below:
* Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychology and/or Chartered Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychologist through PSI
* Candidates qualified overseas must provide evidence of validation by the Department of Health at the time of application
* Mental Health Nurse registered with An Bord Altranais
* Social Worker registered with CORU
* Occupational Therapist registered with CORU
* Psychotherapist accredited by the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP) or the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP)

Desirable Criteria:

* Experience working in health and social care, therapeutic or related organisational settings supporting people with their mental health needs
* Experience working therapeutically with young people aged 12-25 years
* Experience of applying core clinical/therapeutic skills; assessment, formulation, risk management, intervention and evaluation in mental health role/setting
* Experience of /training in delivering evidence-informed mental health interventions, e.g. brief solution focused therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy etc
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Strong time management skills and an ability to manage a busy workload
* Capacity to work co-operatively as part of a team
* Competent in MS office, Office 365, Microsoft Teams and Zoom
