Disability Day Service @ Barrog Healthcare
Barrog Healthcare Day Service provides Service in line with the HSE New Directions initiative which prompts Service users' inclusion in the local community as well as promoting their independent skills in in line with each individual's personal care plan.
Purpose of Role
The Teamlead will support the Service Management Team with the running of the day service and will assist in the management, supervision and leadership for the day service team. They will be responsible for selected tasks and duties relating to the management and effective delivery of Barrog Healthcare Services in their assigned area. The key to success is to work on his / her own initiative to resolve and prevent issues through a proactive, collaborative and structured approach.
The Disability Teamlead will ensure the promotion, creation and maintenance of a welcoming, safe, caring, stable and supportive environment for the clients. They will ensure that young people / vulnerable adults will be treated with dignity and respect, promoting a culture of unconditional positive regard at all times. The Disability Teamlead will promote the best interests of young people/vulnerable adults and facilitate their participation when planning and reviewing agreed plans with regard to service support.

Day service is open from 8am to 4pm, Mon - Fri with some flexibility required for shifts later into the evening should it be required.

20 days. Please note that the day service will be closed for 4 weeks throughout the year, dates to be confirmed with successful candidates. It may be possible to re-deploy for closure periods or portions thereof subject to availability of shifts.

Essential Criteria
Permission to work in Ireland.
Candidates must have a relevant qualification. At a minimum a B.A. in Social Care, QQI Level 7, B.A. in Applied Social Studies or equivalent.
At least 2 years' experience working in disability / social care
Previous experience working with and supporting service users who may display behaviours that challenge
Experience in working within a service and managing people in a fast-paced health / social care environment
Have proficient ICT skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft Packages - Excel and Word and be familiar with an email package e.g. Outlook.
Full clean driver's license

A good understanding of policy, legislative and professional requirements to ensure an appropriate standard of service delivery (e.g. a working knowledge of the legislation relevant to role such as the Child Care Act 1991, Children First Guidelines, Vulnerable Adults National Policy/Guidelines, HIQA regulations.
Effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills including skills in mediation, conciliation and advocacy and the ability to collaborate with colleagues, families, etc.
Ability to manage assigned budget including, financial packages for clients and service budgets.
Initiative and innovation in identifying areas for service improvement.
A good understanding of levels of compliance required to implement HR policies/procedures and guidelines.
Awareness and appreciation of the service user as expert through experience including promoting the role of service user in care planning, decision-making and service development.
Main Duties/ Responsibilities
Provide direct line management, supervision and leadership for the service in accordance with the service delivery model, creating a positive culture within the team.
To manage the day-to-day delivery of a truly person-centred service for all clients
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, logistical and IT skills

Facilitate team meetings
Develop the structures in place to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
Ensure follow through and accountability on any responsibilities in relation to service users as agreed

To be an advocate for service users and staff team
Ensure the involvement of service users in decision-making on matters that affect their lives, at the individual and collective levels and proactively promote within service provision a range of structures, procedures, processes and practices to give service users the opportunity to have their voices heard and valued.
To document information and complete paperwork as deemed necessary for delivery of service to the clients.
To ensure that individual care plans are developed, implemented, and monitored in accordance with agreed standards.
To contribute to the development and maintenance of good working relationships with parents and other family members, social workers, teachers, doctors, and all other relevant professionals and agencies.
To ensure that the client's views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriate.
To implement Barrog Healthcare's policies and procedures.
To work as a member of a team.
To undertake various aspects of home management including the household budget, upkeep, and cleaning.
Lead staff meetings and contribute constructively to the ongoing progression / implementation of the care plan.
To be accountable for any money spent on behalf of B.H.C. during the course of duty.
Reporting and recording any incidents, however minor, that may happen to the client or are caused by them.
To be familiar with emergency procedures and to know who to contact in an emergency.
To keep abreast of current legislation and current professional knowledge.
To undertake ongoing professional training and development.
To attend regular supervision.
To prepare reports for and to participate in professional meetings including case conferences and strategy meetings ensuring that all records relating to those meetings are maintained to a high standard as appropriate / required under the direction of the Management Team.
To perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
