Assistant Director of Nursing: Clinical Leadership Role
This senior clinical position involves providing leadership and direction to ensure the delivery of high-quality nursing care in a state-of-the-art nursing home. Reporting directly to the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a pivotal role in overseeing day-to-day clinical practices, staff supervision, and education.
Main Responsibilities:
* To guarantee that nursing care meets the individual needs of each resident by adhering to policies, standards, and guidelines.
* To conduct regular ward rounds, ensuring optimal clinical outcomes and reviewing documentation to reflect accurate assessments and care plans.
* To oversee medication practices, ensuring compliance with An Bord Altranais guidelines and collaborating with GPs and pharmacy for reviews and audits.
* To support CNMs in mentoring, supervising, and educating nursing staff, fostering a team environment and promoting cohesive practice.
* To participate in performance appraisals, education, and professional development objectives, as well as training and induction programs for nursing and care staff.
* To conduct audits, including clinical audits, medication audits, health and safety audits, risk assessments, and risk management planning.
* To interact with residents, families, and relatives, addressing complaints promptly and escalating as necessary.
* To collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, relatives, and families to provide person-centered care.
* To assume responsibility for day-to-day clinical practices in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
