Work Flexibility: OnsiteJob Title Staff Test Laboratory EngineerReports to Senior Manager, Engineering ServicesLocation Cork Innovation CentreKey Areas of ResponsibilityThe successful candidate will be responsible for test engineering related activities to support New Product Development, including, but not limited to the following:Coordinates, develops, and executes experimental benchtop testing of prototypes and early design concepts, with opportunity to collaborate on design improvements.Will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop functional specifications and acceptance criteria for new products.Will verify design outputs against functional specifications for functionality, reliability, compatibility, usability, safety and other requirements.May analyse documentation and confer with test lab and engineering team to resolve details not completely captured or defined in specifications.Will create and maintain test system documentation, including test methods, protocols, reports, fixture CAD and engineering drawings.Able to lead and collaborate with team of test engineers to provide efficient and cost-effective design solutionsAble to evaluate test data and results, run statistical analyses, and draw meaningful conclusions about the design.Will organize, participate in, and lead technical design reviews to present test data to the wider team in a digestible way.Will own or contribute to the engineering change request process for design changes.Will direct and interact with internal and external partners to complete the fabrication and assembly of test systems.Will track purchases and expenditures for projectsWill support and lead qualification, validation, and calibration activities for equipment as requiredAble to trouble shoot and modify equipment as needed to meet user requirementsAble to help prioritize workload for project team with department leadershipAble to prepare time and cost estimates for projectsWill submit periodic reports on assigned topics to appropriate personnel.Will assist in the training of others on test related topics.May mentor and coach lesser experienced employeesWill research and incorporate new technology related to testing and areas of expertise.Qualifications Knowledge SkillsBachelor's degree in engineering discipline. Preferably Mechanical, Electrical and/or omputer science with a minimum of 4 or more years relevant work experienceExcellent analytical skills.Excellent CAD (ProE, SolidsWorks, AutoCAD electrical)Proficient use of common fabrication equipmentExcellent Software skills in LabVIEW and/or PythonEffective interpersonal communication skillsExcellent mechanical/electrical/software design solving skills, including reliability fault detection/isolation techniquesExperience in developing hardware (or software) to control multi actuator electro-mechanical systemsSelf-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical & problem solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a structured wayTest Lab/ Test System design experience preferredThis is an individual contributor role that requires the use of judgement in applying professional expertise and is expected to work independently with minimal supervision. Roles typically require a university degree or an extensive amount of practical knowledge gained through experience. Job requires an understanding and application of procedures and concepts of own discipline. The job requires the ability to make judgements based on practice and previous experience.Travel Percentage: 10%
