Social Worker role at Kildare County Council
The Social Work team of the Housing and Regeneration Department provides a housing-related social work service to Kildare County Council tenants and prospective tenants, including members of the Traveller Community, Older people, Disability, Homeless and other families and individuals who may require such a service.
Role
Social Work provides a housing-related service including responsive and preventative work. Local Authority (LA) Social Workers respond to referrals in respect of:
* Existing social housing tenants / applicants
* Members of the Traveller community
* Older persons
* Child safeguarding
* Disability (Intellectual, Physical, Sensory & Autism)
* Mental health
* Homelessness
* LGBTQI+
* Other marginalised and vulnerable individuals and groups such as refugees and asylum seekers
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered with CORU is desirable; CORU is the umbrella body that regulates health and social care professionals.
* Experience of social work within a housing context is desirable.
* Knowledge and experience of crisis intervention.
* Knowledge and experience of a range of social work models / interventions.
* Experience of working with vulnerable adults.
* Experience in relation to child safeguarding.
Requirements
* Applicants should hold a full valid Irish / EU licence for Class B vehicles and be competent drivers as driving a car may be required in the course of duties.
