There is currently a permanent / specified purpose, whole-time / part-time Staff Midwife vacancy available in the Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise. This is a rolling campaign. A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full-time or part-time duration may be filled.

Purpose of the Post: To work within a multi-disciplinary team in providing a safe, effective, high quality midwifery service to women, babies and their families. The staff midwife will provide evidence-based midwifery care in the maternity department, antenatal outpatient service and community service as services develop, providing choice to women requiring maternity services in the catchment area.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality midwifery care as part of a multidisciplinary team across maternity, antenatal and community settings; contribute to development and delivery of services to meet patient needs; promote evidence-based practice; support women and families through the continuum of care.
Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications and/or Experience
* Statutory Registration and Professional Qualifications: Must be registered in the Midwives Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or be entitled to be registered.
* Clinical and Administrative Capacity: Must have the ability to discharge the functions of the role.
* Annual Registration: Must maintain live annual registration in the Midwifery Division of the NMBI.
* PSAC Confirmation: Must confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE via the Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
* Health: Must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties of the office and maintain health to render regular and efficient service.
* Character: Must be of good character.
Post Specific Requirements
* Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in maternity care relevant to the role.
* Have completed an accredited neonatal resuscitation certification or agree to undertake within an agreed time period.
* Have completed an accredited fetal monitoring certification or agree to undertake within an agreed time period.
* Have completed an accredited breastfeeding/lactation programme or agree to undertake within an agreed time period.
