R&D Partners is seeking an IT Application Support Engineer on a permanent basis to join our pharmaceutical client in Tipperary. In this role, you will ensure the smooth operation of pharmaceutical applications and provide technical support to users. You will be responsible for maintaining systems, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with various teams to enhance application performance.

Responsibilities:
* Keep pharmaceutical applications running smoothly and perform regular system checks.
* Install and maintain computer systems and peripherals.
* Provide technical support via phone, email, or in person, and resolve hardware and software issues.
* Log and track support requests using a ticketing system.
* Manage user accounts and perform system backups.
* Train users on application features and create helpful guides.
* Work with different teams to solve application problems and communicate updates to stakeholders.
* Ensure applications meet industry standards (GMP, GDA, SOX) and protect sensitive data.
* Improve application performance and participate in related projects.
* Develop and execute validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ) for GxP systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Manage electronic system projects and ensure compliance with regulations.
* Prepare for audits and address any findings and implement CAPAs as required.
Key Skills and Requirements:
* Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
* Proven years of experience in application support, especially in pharmaceuticals or healthcare.
* Strong experience working with applications such as LIMS, ERP, CRM and pharma related software.
* Knowledge of SQL, database management, and scripting languages.
* Familiarity with application servers, web servers, and middleware technologies.
* Familiarity with regulatory requirements (GMP, FDA) and validation processes.
* Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Preferred certifications: ITIL, CompTIA A+, or similar.
