About the Role As Deputy Social Care Manager, you will work closely with the Social Care Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the residential centre, ensuring young people experience a safe, stable and nurturing environment where they feel respected, supported and empowered. You will provide leadership and guidance to the care team, promote child-centred and trauma-informed practice, and help ensure the service consistently meets HIQA Standards, Children First requirements and organisational policies. The role also involves supporting staff development, coordinating care planning, overseeing operational responsibilities and ensuring positive outcomes for young people in care. What Youll Do Support the effective day-to-day management of the residential centre Lead and motivate staff to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care Promote safe, nurturing and child-centred practice across the team Oversee care planning, placement planning and safeguarding practices Coordinate staff rosters and support effective team performance Build positive relationships with young people, families and external professionals Ensure compliance with HIQA Standards, Children First and relevant legislation Support financial oversight, household resources and centre administration Act as the lead person in the absence of the Social Care Manager What Were Looking For We are looking for a confident and compassionate leader who brings: Strong leadership and decision-making skills Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities Emotional resilience and calmness under pressure A commitment to reflective, trauma-informed practice Passion for improving outcomes for children and young people The ability to inspire and support a positive team culture Essential Requirements Applicants must have: A recognised QQI Level 7 qualification (or higher) in Social Care or a related discipline such as Social Work, Psychology, Youth & Community Work, Counselling/Psychotherapy, Nursing, Education or similar A minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience within childrens residential services Demonstrated leadership ability within a care setting Supervisory or management experience desirable CORU registration (Desirable) Strong knowledge of HIQA Standards, Children First and relevant legislation Why Join Emerald Care?
