Overview
Our client is one of Ireland’s leading renewable energy efficiency companies, providing cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions for public, industrial, commercial, and agricultural customers across Ireland and Northern Ireland. They are recruiting for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to support on-site commercial activities and travel within Ireland.
Responsibilities
* Assist in accurate estimation, cost control, and financial management of construction projects to ensure completion within budget, delivering value for money while maintaining quality and adhering to contract terms.
* Understand commercial terms and conditions (T&C) from the sales team/contract and create commercial awareness among project teams.
* Identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks from clients and subcontractors.
* Support setting up and uploading commercial performance targets in the company system; monitor actuals vs budgets with project teams to meet targets.
* Prepare sales invoices to clients on time with accounts receivable aligned to T&C.
* Support procurement/supply chain approach and strategic partnerships; assist in sourcing cost-effective resources (materials, equipment, contractors).
* Assist with pre-construction activities by providing latest technologies, costs, and lead times.
* Review subcontractor claims and project variations; analyse outcomes and prepare progress reports.
* Provide feedback to project teams on commercial aspects related to invoices and costs; share lessons learned for future pricing.
* Attend client meetings, site walkdowns, or work inspections as required and manage client relationships.
* Assist in developing and improving the company’s commercial procedures and documents; share knowledge with team members.
* Assume additional duties as required within the role.
Experience & Qualifications
* Third level degree or equivalent in education and experience
* Minimum 2 years’ experience
* Experience working with multiple projects/sites
* Contracting service experience
* ME contractor experience would be an advantage
* Understanding of NEC contracts would be an advantage
* Knowledge of the renewable energy sector would be an advantage
