on behalf of our public sector client have a requirement for a
Communications Manager
to join their team. The duration of the post is initially
to February 2026
with the high possible extensions thereafter.
Working
35 hours per week
the successful candidate will be employed as an agency employee and will be paid an hourly rate of
€32.86
based on an annualised salary of
€60,013
and will accrue 30 days' annual leave per year.
The role is based fully onsite in Dublin 8.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Primary Objectives/Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the development, implementation and updating of the hospital's communications strategy which supports the strategic ambition of the hospital.
* Assist in working to improve the means and methods in which the hospital communicates effectively with staff, internal and external stakeholders, including all aspects of PR and digital communications.
* In conjunction with the Head of Communications, provide leadership and guidance across the organisation on corporate issues and messaging, agree communications plans and approaches and contribute to the preparation of briefing material for senior management.
* Manage the day-to-day running of the Communications Department to maximise the outreach and dissemination of information to key stakeholders on the varied programmes of activity being undertaken by our client and the positive impact of that activity.
* Support the Head of Communications in organising, planning, and running events including staff engagement events (as required).
* With the Head of Communications, support and implement change communications, in line with the hospital strategy and project needs.
* Assist with the compilation and production of annual reports, operational plans and other corporate reports.
* Draft responses to all media enquiries for Head of Communications to approve.
* Deputise for Head of Communications, when necessary, and support out of hours work when required.
Internal Communications:
* With Head of Communications oversight, issue all staff communications.
* Ensure projects and campaigns are delivered in a timely and effective way.
* Facilitate and coordinate the development of patient and staff information leaflets and booklets.
* Ensure all publications and documents produced by or for the hospital are fit for purpose and have regard to value for money.
* Project manage internal design for the hospital; including reviewing creative briefs, campaigns, PowerPoints, design of materials, reviews and sign-off.
* Review and copy edit any internal or external materials across the hospital.
* Assist with the development, revision and publication of hospital policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Present at staff induction.
Digital Communications:
* Project manage and work with the Head of Communications to develop the digital strategy for our client.
* Manage the hospital's social channels.
* Lead and liaise with key hospital internal and external stakeholders for digital content, input and design.
* Provide social media training to employees across the organisation through monthly or quarterly workshops.
* Keep up to date on best practice within the digital and healthcare sector generally particularly changes to communications innovation, legislation and codes of practice.
Resource Management
:
* Report and inform on Communications to Head of Communications in a timely and continuous manner with respect to performance against planned work.
* Manage all staff reporting to the position, support and motivate them to maximise their development potential.
* Develop effective and robust collaborative/team working relationships with key Page 2 internal and external stakeholders.
* Ensure absenteeism, timekeeping and Performance Achievement are actively managed.
Academic/Professional Qualifications and/or relevant Experience Required:
* Have no less than three years satisfactory experience in an administrative capacity within the Public Sector / Hospital / Healthcare or other environment relevant to the role
• A Degree Qualification (QQI Level 8) in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Journalism, or similar)
* 3-5 years' experience working in a Communications/Public Affairs or related field role.
• Excellent writing, editing, communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
* Management experience- taking responsibility for the quality of the work of others and providing constructive mentorship for individual and team development.
* High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and an ability to follow through to complete tasks.
* Ability to manage and engage with external agencies to ensure delivery is consistent with user needs
* Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office. Desirable:
* A Degree Qualification (QQI Level 9) in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Journalism, or similar)
* Experience in Digital Communications including, but not limited to, social media, email marketing
