Our approach is grounded in robust data analysis, digital tools and engineering expertise to identify, quantify and implement energy conservation measures across multiple departments and functions within client organisations.The OpportunityThis is a senior engineering role for experienced professionals who combine deep technical capability with delivery leadership and the ability to influence others.In this role, the Senior Solutions Engineer will lead complex engineering analysis, solution development and project delivery activities across client accounts. The role spans the full project lifecycle and requires the application of sound engineering judgement, technical authority and a data-led, CPOS-first approach to identifying and developing energy efficiency opportunities.Senior Solutions Engineers may also be asked to take responsibility for organising, coordinating and leading defined streams of engineering and solution design work. This includes setting priorities, tracking progress, managing risks or blockers and ensuring delivery outcomes are achieved and clearly communicated, while continuing to deliver hands-on engineering work as a Solutions Engineer.Depending on delivery needs, the role may also include people leadership or line management responsibilities, alongside technical delivery.Salary: €60,000-80,000.Key ResponsibilitiesSolutions Engineering & Technical LeadershipLead and deliver complex energy assessments, engineering studies and solution development activities across client sitesCollect, validate and interpret large and complex datasets to generate high-quality, data-driven engineering insightsUse CoolPlanet's internal tools and platforms, including CPOS, as the primary means of analysing performance, identifying opportunities and supporting decision-makingDefine, review and approve energy-saving calculations, models, technical reports and client-facing deliverablesLead Front End Engineering Design (FEED) activities and provide technical oversight for Engineering Detailed Design (EDD), ensuring technical quality and consistencyAct as a senior technical interface with clients, suppliers and contractors, providing clarity, confidence and directionDelivery Leadership & Work CoordinationTake accountability for delivery, visibility and performance across defined areas of engineering or solution design workOrganise priorities, milestones and delivery expectations within a structured delivery and reporting environmentEnsure progress, risks and blockers are actively managed, tracked and communicatedTake a proactive, solution-focused approach to resolving delivery challenges related to resourcing, data quality, tooling or customer engagementEscalate issues through appropriate leadership or governance routes where requiredDrive continuous improvement across delivery processes, data quality, engineering standards and workflowsPeople Leadership & Development (Where Applicable)Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to Intermediate and Junior Solutions EngineersReview engineering outputs to ensure quality, consistency and adherence to standardsWhere required, act as line manager or functional manager for engineers, including supporting development, providing feedback and contributing to performance discussionsSupport the development of engineering capability, culture and best practice across the teamKnowledge, Skills & Experience RequiredBachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical, Process, Energy Systems or a related disciplineSignificant experience delivering complex engineering solutions in energy, industrial or manufacturing environmentsStrong technical capability across multiple energy systems and the ability to apply sound engineering judgement in complex or ambiguous situationsAdvanced analytical skills and confidence working with large datasets and digital analysis platformsAbility to balance hands-on engineering delivery with coordination, prioritisation and delivery oversightStrong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence, challenge and support stakeholders at all levelsComfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and accountabilityDesirable Skills and ExperienceA Master's qualification in an energy-related field of studyProfessional accreditations such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or similarExtensive experience working on industrial, manufacturing or large energy-consuming sites, including food & beverage environmentsStrong practical experience across several of the following systems:Thermal systems (steam and hot water)Refrigeration and cooling systemsCompressed air systemsIndustrial heat pump technologiesRenewable energy technologiesExperience leading FEED or equivalent early-stage engineering design activitiesExperience using data analytics platforms, digital engineering tools or performance monitoring systemsInterest in AI tooling, large language models and automation to enhance engineering insight, quality or delivery effectivenessLocationThis position will be based out of CoolPlanet's Powerscourt House office in Enniskerry, Co.
