Position Description The Flexibility Market Design team is part of the DMSO Design pillar of DMSO (Distribution Markets & System Operation). The DMSO Design pillar is formerly known as 'The National Network, Local Connections Programmewhich wasestablishedto deliver the capabilities needed in ESB Networks (people,processesand systems) to change how the electricity distribution system is developed and managed. The Clean Energy Package sets out that "All consumers should be able to benefit from directly participating in the market,"A coreobjectiveof the DMSO Design function is to develop integrated designs for ESB Networks' DMSO is an exciting and transformativearea, and we are seeking applications from individuals who are interested in playing an active role inestablishingthese new capabilities in our organisation and our industry. Thecommercial analyst roleis part of the Flexibility Market Design teamin the DMSO Design pillar. This teamis responsible forsetting the development of theappropriatemarket-basedsolutions to enable customers to contribute directly and benefit from the transformation in the distribution network. Through flexible services,customers will be able to offer their capabilities in demand side response,generationor storage to ESB Networks as DSO toefficiently and securely manage the distribution network. The teamis responsible for: Leading thedevelopment of flexibility market rules. Leading the development ofnewflexibilityproducts in which customerssuch as demand response, aggregators,generationand storagecanparticipatein via the flexibility market. Managingexisting and futureflexibility marketcontractssuch as, but not limited to, validation and settlementof flexibility services. This is done using a Flexibility Services Tracker which will be replaced by a Flexibility Market System over the next 18 months. Developingappropriate commercialmodels to value the flexibility productsand designingappropriate incentivesfor customers. Establishinganappropriate contractualmodel through which ESBNetworksprocuresandfinanciallysettlesthese flexibleservices. Developingtheappropriate processesthrough which customers canparticipatein transmission services and wholesale markets. Key Responsibilities Engaging inthe settlement and validation process for the flexible service providers(customers)in the variousflexibility products andservices. Analysis of market data and outcomes to inform flexible service cost forecast Working with Market Operations Lead in management of the flexible service contracts during commercial operation Analyse the necessary operational and financial information to prepare performance statements for customersoperatingwithin flexibleservice contracts Working closely with the Account Holder for each flexible service provider Involved in developingimprovements to the settlement tooland testing of same Feeding intomarketprocess mappingsessions and development of same Support the development of enduring operational tools such as Flexibility market systemforprocuringand settling services by contributing to requirements gathering and end user testing Support the development ofthe market design and processes (including registration, qualification, competition frameworks and validation and settlement) forparticipatingin flexible services, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Work closely with other teams tomonitorexpenditure and support financial projection of flexibleservicecosts. Supporting development of tender documentation for the individualflexible services and initiatives. Knowledge, Skillsand Experience Essential A primarydegree in Economics, Finance, or related discipline orequivalent work experiencein a commercial role. 3+ years relevant experience required Stronganalyticalskills Strong commercial awareness Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross functional teams Excellent written and communication skills Excellent Microsoft Excel skills Desirable Understanding of commercial/contractual risk management Knowledge of existing Irish or Europeanelectricityarrangements. Knowledge of Procurementrules Knowledge of probabilistic or statistical modelling techniques Data analytics capability using Power BI or other data analytics package Location Flexiblewithminimumone anchor dayin Finglas.
