Responsibilities:

* Supervise the activities of retail sales team on a daily basis and ensure necessary tasks are completed to an appropriate level

* Ensure high quality and consistent customer service is provided at all times

* Delegate and communicate effectively with the retail sales team

* Supervise the effective induction and training of all employees

* Communicate sales performance to the team

* Assist the store manager in the recruitment of high calibre retail sales assistants
">
* Assist the store manager in the effective management of Retail Sales Team performance

* Operational responsibilities include ensuring the store is merchandised in a customer friendly and competitive manner, ensuring compliance with company procedures and guidelines

* Ensuring housekeeping in the store is maintained at an optimum level
">
* Coordinating in-store sales and promotions
">
* Communicating with retail sales team regarding in-store sales and promotions

* Ensuring the appropriate cash register and cash handling policy is adhered to
">
* Ensuring shelf edged labels are updated on a weekly basis

* Reacting to local market trends and competition in an appropriate manner

* Ensuring customers receive high quality and consistent service at all times

* Dealing with and rectifying customer complaints in an effective and pleasant manner

* Proactively taking necessary action in-store improvements following customer complaints

* Assisting the manager in preparations for stock take and supervising where appropriate

* Minimizing stock loss through wastage, damages and pilferage

* Ensuring food management and waste systems are adhered to by retail sales team

* Checking stock to ensure adequate stock is available for customer's needs
">
* Rotating stock to ensure in-date stock is available and to minimize waste through out-of-date stock
">
* Ensuring secure opening and closing procedures with the store manager
">
* Assisting the manager as appropriate in matters relating to managing staff, ensuring compliance with labour law, HACCP, Health & Safety and Consumer Legislation
">
* Identifying and reducing or removing/eliminating potential hazards in the store
">
* Working with the Store Manager to ensure Health & Safety checks are conducted and actioned accordingly
">
