An opportunity has arisen in Belvedere College SJ for the full-time, fixed term position of
Maintenance Operative. We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Person to ensure
the upkeep, safety, and functionality of our college premises. The ideal candidate will have
experience in general maintenance, repairs, and facility management. This role requires a
proactive individual who can work independently and as part of a team to maintain a safe
and clean environment.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
General Maintenance & Repairs:
Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs (plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc.).
Inspect and help maintain heating, lighting, and ventilation systems to ensure they are in
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and issues as they arise.
Building & Grounds Upkeep:
Ensure the college facilities and grounds are well maintained and safe.
Carry out general outdoor maintenance, including weed spraying and path clearance.
Monitor and repair fencing, signage, and outdoor fixtures as needed.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Conduct regular safety checks on college facilities, including fire alarms, emergency lighting,
and security systems.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with health and safety regulations.
Report any hazards or security concerns to the Head of Facilities or any appropriate college
management team at the time.
Security & Facilities Management:
Monitor the open and closing the college premises as required, ensuring security procedures
are followed.
Oversee contractors carrying out work on-site and ensure they comply with college policies.
Maintain stock levels of maintenance supplies and place orders when necessary.
Any other duties as deemed necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
Previous experience in a maintenance or repair person role, preferably in a college or similar
setting.
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repair skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
Understanding of health and safety regulations.
Garda vetting clearance is required.
Excellent level of spoken and written English.
Eligible to work in Ireland on a full-time basis.
