Child and Youth Care Specialist
This is an exciting opportunity for a Child and Youth Care Specialist to join a new service delivering trauma-informed care for young people aged between 13 & 17 years old.
The team will encourage the development of positive attachments through relationship building with the overall goal of providing a therapeutic environment for children and young people. There will be a strong emphasis on engaging the young people in the programme and on building rapport in support of developing relationships.
You will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of professionals to deliver robust, holistic, trauma-informed care to the young people.
The role involves working with Children and Young People, household activities, administration, teamwork, professional development, health and safety.
* Develop and implement comprehensive Care and Placement Plans and ensure appropriate recording of same.
* Promote the rights and responsibilities of each child/young person within the Service.
* Promote physical, emotional, social and religious welfare of each young person in care.
* Encourage attendance at school, training centres, medical and clinical appointments.
* Liaise with parents, family, general services, and other agencies on behalf of the young person.
* Attend meetings in relation to the care and developments of the young person.
* Engage in age-appropriate play and other activities with each child/young person within the Service.
* Prepare and provide well-balanced meals of high quality.
* Undertake various aspects of home management including the household budget, upkeep and cleaning.
* Make written and verbal reports to the Team Leader / Manager on a regular basis on the progress of development of the young person.
* Ensure Child protection procedures are followed in accordance with the responsibilities of a designated officer.
You will also need to comply with and contribute to the development of policies, procedures, guidelines and safe professional practice and adhere to relevant legislation, regulations and standards.
The successful candidate must be registered in the Child and Youth Care Register maintained by the relevant registration board or be eligible for registration.
