Based in Dublin with occasional travel to other depots throughout the ROI and NI required.
Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, this is an exciting opportunity to develop in a role responsible for developing and implementing the company's Health & Safety procedures and management systems to exceed legal and corporate compliance requirements.
The successful candidate will assist in developing, managing, and delivering safety-related training to all staff levels, covering areas such as procedural requirements, incident investigation, risk assessment, and safety inspection/audit.
The H&S Officer will promote and maintain a health & safety culture within the company and will be involved in various site activities and logistical challenges typical of a leading food catering industry supplier.
Relevant training will be provided on all aspects of H&S management systems, and a demonstrable understanding of our business is preferred.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture within the company.
2. Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures in line with current legislation and industry best practices.
3. Ensure effective risk assessment and risk reduction programs are in place.
4. Conduct internal H&S inspections and audits, facilitate external audits, and monitor controls.
5. Manage departmental programs, tasks, and objectives to meet targets.
6. Track actions and ensure timely completion, escalating as needed.
7. Monitor H&S performance metrics and take decisive actions when necessary.
8. Identify, organize, and deliver training to management and staff.
9. Lead incident investigations and review incident data for trends, implementing corrective actions.
10. Facilitate stakeholder meetings, circulate minutes, and track follow-up actions.
Requirements:
* Graduate Diploma (Level 8) in Occupational Safety, Health and Welfare.
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a health and safety-focused environment.
* Knowledge of ISO standards, especially ISO 45001:2018.
* Training, delivery, and evaluation (QQI 6) or instructor training advantageous.
* Experience in FMCG industry preferred.
* Proficient in MS Office.
* Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
* Ability to produce concise reports, procedures, and policies.
* Full clean driving license and own vehicle.
* Flexibility for shift work and travel.
