The National Genetics And Genomics Office (NGGO) is charged with driving the implementation of the National Strategy for Accelerating Genetic And Genomic Medicine in Ireland (Genomics Strategy). A Five-Year Plan (2025-2029) has been developed under the following key areas of focus:

Coordinating a national approach to genetics and genomics
Ensuring patient and public involvement and partnerships
Building the genetics and genomics workforce for the future
Enhancing genetics and genomics clinical services
Strengthening infrastructure to drive advances in genetics and genomics

The role of the Clinical Lead, NGGO, is to work with key stakeholders to progress the implementation of the Genomics Strategy and to deliver specifically on activities aligned to the development of clinical genomics services, education and training, and specialist genomic workforce planning.
The Clinical Lead, NGGO will provide clinical advice, perspective and support in relation to the clinical genomics services. This will include working through and across hospitals and the HSE regions.
The Clinical Lead, NGGO will also provide clinical advice to the Chief Clinical Officer and HSE SLT.
The Clinical Lead, NGGO will act as an advisor, medical decision maker and spokesperson for the HSE on clinical genomics matters.
