The Role
The EHS Process Safety Engineer/Specialist will work closely with the EHS Safety Manager and other technical managers/engineers to drive improvements in existing EHS management systems, including compliance for the Cork site under the COMAH and Seveso regulations, as well as providing technical expertise as required. Responsibilities include process safety, functional safety, process safety programs (HAZOPS, LOPA, etc.), and process safety KPIs.
The EHS Process Safety Engineer/Specialist is responsible for activities and programs to ensure compliance with ATEX, High Risk Work programs, and local and corporate EHS process safety requirements. Support for DGSA site requirements will also be part of the role.
The EHS Engineer/Specialist will carry out activities to ensure compliance with the site’s ISO 45001/ISO 45001 management systems, including local and corporate EHS programs.
The role involves leading interactions with regulatory bodies on compliance and future change requirements.
The EHS Engineer/Specialist will measure, monitor, and evaluate site health and safety performance, driving continuous improvement.
This role offers autonomy and ownership for assigned projects and programs, with support from an experienced EHS team.
Duties
* Lead EHS assessment and approval of process and equipment changes in conjunction with Process Safety protocols.
* Provide EHS support to ensure compliance with Lower Tier SEVESO and ATEX requirements.
* Guide and support site operations to comply with health and safety legislation, licensing, and ISO standards.
* Maintain relationships with EHS team, operational managers, and functional managers to develop and implement strategies.
* Support digitization programs related to EHS systems.
* Work closely with regulatory authorities and stakeholders.
* Lead audits, inspections, and compile EHS metrics and KPIs for continuous monitoring and trending.
Who You Are
* Essential: Degree/Diploma in Process Safety and a recognized qualification in H&S or engineering/science.
* Desirable: Experience with COMAH and chemical management systems.
* Experience in infrastructural projects, contractor management, and regulatory interactions.
* Strong project and program management skills in a large industry.
* Expertise in H&S legislation and best practices.
* Excellent communication and technical report writing skills.
* Ability to prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines.
* Flexible, constructive problem solver.
