Sales Representative
Location: Dublin (Field Based)
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Sales Representative to drive sales growth, develop new business opportunities, and build strong relationships with existing trade customers. This is a field-based role focused on proactive customer engagement, achieving sales targets, and delivering excellent service and product knowledge to customers within the construction and building trade.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Relationship Management
1. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing trade customers, including builders, contractors, and developers
2. Act as the main point of contact for customer queries, orders, and account issues
3. Conduct regular face-to-face customer visits to strengthen loyalty and retention
New Business Development
4. Identify and approach potential new customers within the local and regional area
5. Network at trade shows, supplier days, and industry events
6. Follow up on leads generated through internal teams, suppliers, or marketing activity
Sales & Revenue Growth
7. Achieve or exceed agreed sales targets, gross profit margins, and account growth goals
8. Promote the full range of products and services
9. Upsell and cross-sell complementary products to maximise order value
Product Knowledge & Advice
10. Maintain strong knowledge of building materials, their uses, and alternatives
11. Provide technical advice to customers or source information from suppliers as required
12. Stay up to date with market trends, competitor activity, and new product launches
Internal Collaboration
13. Work closely with internal sales, yard, and delivery teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment
14. Share customer feedback with management to support service and product improvements
15. Coordinate pricing and stock availability with branch management
Reporting & Administration
16. Prepare weekly and monthly sales and account activity reports
17. Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records
18. Track quotations and follow up to maximise conversion
Credit & Payment Awareness
19. Monitor customer accounts and support adherence to agreed payment terms
What We're Looking For
Essential
20. Proven experience in external sales, ideally within the builders' merchant or construction sector
21. Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills
22. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
23. Full, clean driving licence
Desirable
24. Knowledge of building materials and their applications
25. Experience using CRM systems and sales reporting tools
26. Familiarity with a local or regional trade customer base
