Job Summary:
The Mechanical Estimator plays a key role in delivering cost-effective and technically sound modular projects. Responsibilities include preparing tender packages, formulating accurate estimates, consulting with clients on design options, and coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors. The role involves working closely with internal departments to meet project requirements within budget and schedule, ensuring quality and compliance.
Responsibilities:
* Develop detailed mechanical & electrical cost estimates for offshore containers, CCUs & bespoke pressure vessels, covering materials, labour, sub-contractors, suppliers, and internal design costs.
* Consult with clients on technical designs, recommending cost-efficient solutions.
* Estimate material costs and labour for modular builds, ensuring alignment with client budgets.
* Engage with suppliers for competitive sourcing and build supplier relationships.
* Collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to verify costs and specifications.
* Review client specifications and advise on optimizing materials and designs for cost efficiency.
* Provide pre-construction and conceptual designs for tenders as needed.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and company procedures.
* Maintain records of tenders, quotes, and client interactions.
* Assist in preparing sales reports and project documentation.
* Coordinate with engineering and operations on project handovers.
* Stay updated on industry trends and innovations.
* Proficiency or willingness to learn Excel, AutoCAD, and SAP.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills in English.
* Understanding of fabrication and mechanical engineering processes.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Education & Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Structural Engineering preferred.
* At least 3 years of experience in mechanical estimating, especially in modular or prefabricated construction.
* Knowledge of mechanical systems, pressure vessels, and structural design advantageous.
* Familiarity with modular construction processes is highly beneficial.
