Role Description
MRG Consulting Engineers, are engaged by Kerry Education and Training Board to provide consulting architectural services including the role of employer's representative for the project. We have been requested to provide clerk of work services for the duration of the Construction Phase.
You will be part of the site-based team responsible for the supervision of the construction stage of the project.
The scheme will be completed in phased and comprises of the following works
· The Removal Of Existing Single Storey Prefabricated Buildings (That Consist Of 4 Classrooms, 5 Resource Rooms And Associated Services) on a phased based during the works and incorporating the provision of 4 no. additional temporary prefabricated classrooms for the construction phase, all at St Olivers Primary School, Ballycasheen, Killarney, Co. Kerry
· Replacement With A Two Storey Extension Consisting Of 3 Mainstream Classrooms, 3 SET Resource Rooms, And A 3 Classroom Base Special Education Needs Unit and Associated Facilities, External Play Areas, and Canopy to SEN Set Down Parking Facilities to the rear of the school.
· Associated Alterations and Elevational Changes to the existing School Building including the construction of a Single Storey Extension with 3 SET Rooms,
· New Boundary Treatment to Rookery Road incorporating A New Vehicular Set Down Provision, Revised Pedestrian Entrances and the relocation of Parking Facilities
· Together with All Related Services and Site Works all at St Olivers Primary School, Rookery Road, Ballycasheen, Killarney, Co. Kerry
Duties
Your duties will include:
* The provision of meticulous observation and day-to-day supervision of the works, delivering detailed weekly reports on all relevant aspects
* Assist in accurate interpretation and implementation of all documents, drawings, specifications, and other contract documents and Verifying compliance with construction drawings, specifications, and building regs
* Reporting on quality, safety, and progress via detailed site reports and photographs
* Inspect workmanship, service installations, and materials, recording any unacceptable work and informing the Design Team accordingly.
* Identifying and flagging defects or deviations, and ensuring remedial action is taken
* Ensuring that materials and workmanship meet client and regulatory standards
* Liaising with contractors, consultants, and internal teams
* Supporting handover and snagging processes
* Maintaining a daily log of activities and observations
* Monitoring Health & Safety adherence on-site
* Attending site and project meetings as required
Essential Requirements
· At least five years' experience in the supervision or construction of similar type buildings as a clerk of works, or site engineer /supervisor.
· An extensive knowledge of Irish construction standards and building regulations
· A thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation and its application in the workplace
· Safe Pass/ CSCS or equivalent safety certification required
· Relevant construction or engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, CIOB, ICWCI)
· Knowledge of and experience in site inspections of contract works, including demolition, building construction, drainage, road construction and building services works
· Strong reporting and communication skills including ability to write clear and concise reports, keep work records, measure and record all variation from contract and reading drawings
· Proficiency in IT, particularly in relation to document handling and production of reports
