Overview Of Role
Provide effective, efficient, and safe pharmaceutical care to all patients in UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic (SSC) under the direction of the Chief Pharmacist. Identify and address individual patient care needs where appropriate. Advise and provide information to other healthcare professionals, including other pharmacists, to assist them in their care of the patient. Any other duties assigned to him/her by the Chief Pharmacist.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
* Liaise closely and co-ordinate service delivery with the other team members to ensure a high level of teamwork between pharmacists and pharmaceutical technicians
* Provide a Clinical Service to the In-Patient Department including the reporting of medication events.
* Promote the safe, rational and cost-effective use of medicines within the Hospital;
* Ensure purchase, storage and supply of all items is consistent with quality and value for money
* Ensure best practice and compliance with agreed clinical guidelines.
* Undertake required medication audits in a timely manner and present findings
* Expand services as required in line with available resources.
* Promote innovative services for provision of comprehensive, seamless patient care.
* Identify and implement operational processes to the standards of best practice in order to optimise use of resources and ensure compliance with statutory requirements;
* Create, promote and maintain clear, open communications and healthy working relationships. Engage in teamwork with medical and nursing staff to improve the quality of the medication management processes.
* Actively participate in continuing education / research activities consistent with the post.
* Participate in Hospital Committees as required.
* Provide education and training to staff including doctors, nurses, other pharmacy staff and patients/relatives as required.
* Adhere to all safety procedures in place within the clinic.
* Performance of such other duties appropriate to the post, including the participation in extended opening rosters including weekend opening and other such services that may from time to time be required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Be registered in the Register of Pharmaceutical Chemists for Ireland
* Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office;
* Possess a high standard of organisational and administrative ability;
* Have the ability to prioritise and manage a number of issues simultaneously
* Have good interpersonal skills
* Demonstrate attention to detail
* Be flexible in approach to work in order to meet the needs of the service
* Be free from any defect or disease which would render him/her unsuitable to hold office and be in a state of health as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service;
