We have a career opportunity for a Mechanical Project Engineer who will contribute as a key member of our Building Services Team. This is a hybrid role, primarily based in Dublin or Cork, with offices also available in Galway, Kilkenny, and Sligo.
Our Building Services Team includes enthusiastic and experienced engineers from Graduate to Director level working closely with clients, architects, and engineers to deliver exciting projects across various market sectors. Current projects include healthcare buildings for the HSE, multi-site school buildings, university projects, laboratories, pharmaceutical, and port infrastructure. We are committed to professional development and support our employees in gaining Chartered Engineer status. Our team is driven to achieve sustainability goals and recognizes the vital role of Building Services Engineers in reducing energy demand and harnessing renewable energy sources for a low-carbon future.
About the role:
You will be based in Cork or Dublin and work under a senior engineer on all aspects of project delivery from concept to hand-over. Responsibilities include feasibility studies, option appraisals, scheme and detailed design using calculation spreadsheets, IES thermal modelling software, AutoCAD, and Revit. The role involves site visits during construction to monitor progress and quality. You will collaborate with team members within RPS and the wider design team, including architects and structural engineers, and attend client meetings, representing RPS values and behaviors.
Qualifications:
* Industry-related Level 8 Degree in Mechanical, Building Services, or Energy Engineering.
* Membership of a professional body such as Engineers Ireland or CIBSE is advantageous.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a consultancy practice.
* Experience and skills in various sectors (Commercial, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Educational, Healthcare, Hospitality, Residential, Data Centres).
* Proven track record in designing and coordinating mechanical building services projects.
* Good knowledge of low-carbon design principles, nZEB, Part L compliance.
* Established relationships with public and private sector clients.
* Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.
* Experience with projects in a BIM environment using Revit.
Key Skills & Responsibilities:
* Technical expertise in HVAC, controls, piped utilities, and above ground drainage.
* Preparation of feasibility studies, scheme drawings, reports, detailed design packages, specifications, and equipment data sheets.
* Cost estimating, tendering, construction, commissioning, validation, and handover.
* Engagement with clients, design team members, and contractors.
* Applying BIM Level 2 procedures and coordinating with other discipline models.
* Delivering projects effectively from inception to completion.
* Experience with thermal modelling software like IES, calculation software, and detailed spreadsheets.
* Supporting business development opportunities.
