The Abbey Hotel has an opportunity for a Food and Beverage Manager with a strong bars background to join the Management team at the hotel.
The Food and Beverage Manager (Bar-Focused) is responsible for overseeing the hotel's bar operations, bar food service, and associated entertainment programs. This role ensures that all bar areas operate efficiently, profitably, and in line with the hotel's brand standards. The manager will lead the bar team, control beverage and food costs, coordinate entertainment and security, and deliver an exceptional guest experience across all bar outlets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Oversee the day-to-day running of all hotel bar areas, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
* Manage beverage and bar food stock — including ordering, receiving, storage, and accurate inventory control.
* Control costs through effective vendor management and portion control.
* Recruit, train, and manage a motivated bar and floor service team.
* Create efficient staff rosters that balance cost control with service quality and coverage.
* Plan, schedule, and manage bar entertainment (live music, DJs, themed nights, etc.) to drive engagement and revenue.
* Liaise with artists, agents, and marketing teams to promote events effectively.
* Coordinate closely with hotel security to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for guests and staff.
* Oversee the setup, execution, and breakdown of events within the bar venues.
* Be a visible and engaging presence on the floor, interacting with guests and responding promptly to feedback.
* Manage bar food operations in coordination with the kitchen team — including menu design, pricing, and service consistency.
Requirements
· Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a senior Food & Beverage or Bar Management role, preferably within a hotel or large hospitality venue.
· Proven leadership, communication, and financial management skills
· Strong knowledge of mixology, wine, and beverage trends
· Must have strong attention to detail and ability to multi task.
· Experience in organising bar music & entertainment
· Possess excellent customer service skills
· Must be proficient in computer skills in particular point of sale software
· A good financial awareness of costing, purchasing and wage costs
· Have a mature and pleasant manner for dealing with customers and team members
· Have a full knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
