The programme, designed for recent graduates with a recognised qualification in architecture, is an opportunity to obtain practical work experience for three years to prepare for the Professional Practice Examinations.
The selection process will be shortlisting for competitive interview.
The package for successful applicants consists of:

Cork City Council is a large urban local authority with over **** employees across over 40 locations within the City, there are 31 Elected Members of the Council representing five wards in the City.
The Council has an annual revenue budget of just over €325 million for **** and provides a wide and diverse range of public services such as parks and recreation, housing, management of the public realm, libraries, physical planning and development, community, culture and place-making and the delivery of infrastructure projects.
This placement programme, which has been run for the past number of years, will assist the graduate to integrate the skills learnt in architecture school with the needs of the current practice of architecture in the realm of the local authority while enabling them to meet the requirement to complete their professional practice placement.
The City Architect's Department will benefit from the design enthusiasm, dedication to work, and CAD skills that students can contribute.
The creation of an urban based approach to design in all its facets has demonstrated its capacity to promote both the economic and cultural growth of cities and particularly in the case of European second cities.
With this in mind, the City Architects Department project programme encompasses work that assists in city building:
Urban design and master planning of new districts
Housing schemes from client briefing through concept design, the planning & tender process and contract administration
Public buildings, new design work, conservation, and maintenance projects
