Base pay range
We are looking for a Subject Teacher/Lecturer (Historical, social, cultural, economic, and international aspects of Irish society).
Please note that this role is for a fixed duration beginning from the 3rd/4th week of September until the 10th of October. There will be 15 hours of teaching per week in this role.
ROLE PURPOSE:
English Path is seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable teacher/lecturer to deliver a two-week intensive course for students from Denmark. The course, ‘Crisis, Conflicts, and Collaboration’, explores key historical, social, cultural, economic, and international aspects of Irish society.
The teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality lectures and discussions, supporting students in gathering information for their research projects, and integrating course material with cultural visits and extracurricular activities arranged for the program. This is a content-based course, not an English language course.
ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Develop and deliver engaging and academically rigorous lessons based on the outlined topics.
* Provide historical, social, economic, and political context for Ireland, including contemporary challenges and societal developments.
* Foster critical thinking and discussion among students on key course themes.
* Integrate field visits and cultural activities into lessons, reinforcing key themes covered in class.
* Guide students in research skills and data collection, ensuring they are prepared for their final projects upon return to Denmark.
* Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate students’ high level of English proficiency, focusing purely on content rather than language instruction.
* Maintain an engaging and interactive classroom environment that encourages participation.
* Collaborate with accompanying Danish teachers to ensure academic and cultural objectives are met.
* Support students in making connections between course topics and their real-world applications.
* Issue certificates of completion in collaboration with English Path.
* Keeping an accurate record of student attendance and other administrative duties as agreed with your line manager.
* Develop, update, and improve course materials as appropriate.
* Attend meetings as required, to contribute to the decision-making process and to develop productive working relationships within the various teams you will be engaged with.
* Teachers are expected to be on-site no later than 15 minutes before the start of their first lesson.
* A full induction will be provided for all new teachers, and regular training will be offered.

* Changing Society: Generational Influence & Social Change
* Housing Crisis & Homelessness in Ireland
* Media, Interest Groups & Political Advocacy
* Sport & Society in Ireland
* Economic Profile & Challenges of Ireland Today
* Property Market vs Cultural Spaces
* Changing Society: Ireland on Film
* Sustainability & Environmental Policies in Ireland
* Ireland’s Role in the Ukraine War
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor’s or master’s degree or higher in History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, International Relations, or a related field.
* Minimum 1 year of teaching experience at a high school, college, or university level.
* Deep understanding of Irish history, politics, economy, and social structures.
* Experience teaching international students is preferred.
* Strong communication and presentation skills.
* Ability to integrate academic theory with practical case studies and real-world examples.
* Ability to engage students in interactive and discussion-based learning.
* Experience coordinating academic learning with extracurricular or field experiences is an advantage.
* Demonstratable experience for similar courses.
* Structured and creative approach to lesson planning.
* Ability to work with classroom technology with ease and creativity.
* Professional conduct in all interactions with staff and students.
* Flexibility and a positive attitude.
* Attention to detail and accurate reporting.
* Ability to maintain thorough and organised student records.
* Ability to work under pressure, plan, and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.
* Highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
* Ability to work with diverse groups of people and, enthusiasm and commitment to working as a team.
SAFEGUARDING AND WELFARE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Responsible for promoting safeguarding within their venue and working with others to ensure a safe and inclusive environment is achieved.
* Help provide emotional and pastoral care for all students and promote their mental and physical well-being at all times.
* Effectively manage classroom management and student behaviour (with the support of the academic management team).
* Make yourself aware of EPs safeguarding policy, attendance policy, safer recruitment policy and, any other policies relating to welfare and safeguarding of students to ensure a clear and correct process is always followed to ensure children are safe and protected.
