EHR Theatre & Anaesthesia Build Team Member

Overview
The Theatre & Anaesthesia Build Team Member supports the Cúram Electronic Health Record (EHR) system across UPMC Ireland.
Reporting to the Theatre & Anaesthesia Workstream Lead, the role focuses on configuration, testing, and validation of Theatre & Anaesthesia–related applications, ensuring system functionality aligns with clinical staff needs and program goals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
General Accountabilities
The member assists the Theatre & Anaesthesia Workstream Lead in delivering the Theatre & Anaesthesia workstream for the Cúram EHR implementation.
Tasks include stakeholder coordination, milestone tracking, documentation of workflows and system configurations, and supporting testing of data migration, interoperability, and end-user devices.
System Design & Workflow Support
Assist in designing and validating Theatre & Anaesthesia workflows within MEDITECH Expanse and related applications.
Review and provide feedback on system functionality for Theatre & Anaesthesia processes.
Support integration of Theatre & Anaesthesia workflows with financial processes to maintain clinical/financial integrity.
Collaborate with clinical and technical teams to uphold end-to-end clinical integrity across modules.
Implementation Support, Data Validation & Testing
Assist in system configuration, data migration validation, and integration with enterprise platforms.
Participate in integrated testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
Troubleshoot issues with IT, finance, and clinical teams.
Integrate Theatre & Anaesthesia modules with other clinical systems (e.g., Physician Care Manager, Order Management, laboratory, pharmacy).
Validate reporting requirements for Theatre & Anaesthesia functions.
Support change management, including workflow impacts and documentation for staff.
Contribute to go-live readiness, real-time issue resolution, and workflow adjustments.
Engage with Theatre & Anaesthesia SMEs during design and optimization discussions.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards (e.g., JCI, HIQA).
Team Collaboration & Support
Coordinate cross-functional implementation activities across providers and consultants.
Document decisions, risks, and issues in workgroup meetings.
Serve as secondary liaison between Theatre & Anaesthesia services and the Cúram team, escalating issues as needed.
Develop and deliver training materials for staff and end-users.
Provide hands-on support during go-live and stabilization phases.
Support training delivery on MEDITECH Expanse workflows.
Assist in handover and training of future EHR BAU team members.
Documentation & Governance
Maintain accurate project documentation (state maps, risk/issue logs, change logs).
Prepare materials for governance processes (Clinical Design Forum, senior management meetings).
Track KPIs for readiness, adoption, and post-go-live performance.
Document lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements related to clinical safety and digital health.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
Minimum 3 years of perioperative experience in an acute care hospital or surgical center.
Familiarity with Theatre & Anaesthesia workflows, clinical safety practices, and quality reporting standards.
Strong project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills across clinical and operational teams.
Preferred
Hands-on experience with MEDITECH Expanse (Surgical Services or OR module) or equivalent major EHR systems (Epic, Oracle Health).
Experience with digital documentation tools, surgical case management systems, or electronic preference cards.
Knowledge of perioperative safety frameworks (e.g., WHO Surgical Safety Checklist, AORN).
Experience implementing MEDITECH Theatre & Anaesthesia or equivalent capabilities.
Knowledge of clinical decision support, change management methodologies (Prosci, ADKAR), and regulatory requirements.
Experience developing training resources and SOPs.
