Important HSE Hospital in the SouthWest of Ireland requires a Consultant doctor in Haematology (clinical & laboratory) for at least 12 months. This is a very good opportunity to work alongside another highly qualified haematologist. The hospital aims to expand its service, which is why they are looking for a haematologist to join the department. The department is organized as follows:
* 4 clinics per week in:
Malignant Haematology
General Haematology
General Haematology
General Haematology
* Fridays: anticancer medical clinics
* Inpatient Consultation
LAB MANAGEMENT:
* Reporting Peripheral Bloods
* Lab Management
* Blood Bank administration: Blood products for patients.

The appointment is full-time, temporary, and pensionable.
The annual salary will be as set out in the Public Only Consultants’ Contract 2023. Medical Consultants Salary Scales from 1st March 2025:
€231,215 €243,713 €256,906 €263,850 €270,793 €277,736
Incremental credit is awarded for previous experience at the Consultant level.
As a consultant (FEA), you will be part of the consultant team and one of the department leaders. You will have a leadership position and act with complete autonomy. Junior doctors and resident physicians will report to you. You will be on-call off-site. You will oversee all decisions made by your team and report to the hospital's clinical director.
How the department works:
The team consists of haematologist consultants working collaboratively with registrars and resident physicians to manage treatment plans for patients.
Benefits include:
* Initial contract of 6 months to one year (for consultant positions only) with the possibility of extension.
* Approximate monthly net salary of up to €11,000 after taxes and pension deductions. There may be opportunities to earn more through private patients attending the hospital. Typical long-term consultants can earn up to approximately €320,000 gross/year (from €232k-€277k + on calls).
* 30 working days of vacation per year plus public holidays (10 this year).
* 7 days per year for conferences or further training.
* Up to €3,000 in educational funding for consultants.
* Lucrative pension plan of approximately €1,000/month. If the doctor leaves Ireland within 2 years, they can claim the lump sum back into their account (maximum of approximately €24,000). Otherwise, a pension is provided at retirement age.
Requirements:
1. Must be a Haematologist Specialist within the European Union or have validated training within a European Union country, with at least three years of practice in this specialty from recognition.
2. Excellent command of written and spoken English.
3. Strong motivation to work as a doctor in Ireland this year.
4. Ability to work under high pressure and as part of a team.
