We have an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join our Trading team as a Category Manager.
As part of the Growing Good Business Agenda, the role of Category Manager is to deliver a market-leading offer that meets consumer and retailer needs while improving overall profitability. This involves developing appropriate category strategies and leading a high-performing team responsible for designing and executing these strategies. Success relies on building strong supplier, retailer, and cross-functional partnerships to enable effective sourcing and supply of quality products at optimal prices, delivered in a timely manner.
As Category Manager, your responsibilities will include:
* Developing a comprehensive Category Strategy to achieve sustainable long-term revenue, margin, value, quality, and market share growth aligned with the overall business strategy;
* Creating an annual category buying plan, setting targets and budgets, and approving plans with each Trading Manager;
* Providing input and direction for the annual Commercial Planning process, including developing Brand & Own Brand product ranges through Category Management strategies that align with the company’s brand positioning and profit goals;
* Implementing operating processes, systems, and procedures to ensure sustainable, high-quality, and consistent business outcomes;
* Supporting and developing the One Commercial agenda, including group-wide commercial programs;
* Building excellent long-term relationships with suppliers and retailers through Joint Business Plans and engagement activities such as store visits, retailer forums, and councils;
* Managing and supporting the Category team, ensuring all members have the necessary skills, resources, and support to meet their objectives.
Qualifications and experience we're looking for:
o At least 3 years of progressive experience in a senior commercial role managing a significant trading portfolio with a proven record of delivering results;
o Proven leadership and people management skills;
o Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to interact at all organizational levels and manage multiple projects;
o A strong focus on customer service excellence;
o Organized, structured, and deadline-oriented;
o Experience leading cross-functional trading teams in fast-paced environments;
o Strategic thinking and planning capabilities;
o Strong commercial acumen;
o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
o Highly numerate with strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
