The Assistant Night Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all hotel operations during the night shift, ensuring the seamless functioning of Front Desk, Security, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other active departments. Handles critical guest situations and emergencies with efficiency and professionalism. Ensures accurate completion of night audits, monitors occupancy and overbooking, and prepares detailed operational and incident reports for management. Maintains safety, security, and service standards throughout the property, upholding brand protocols and delivering exceptional guest experiences even during overnight operations.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate the operation of all active departments during the night shift (Front Desk, Security, Housekeeping, Maintenance, etc.).
* Personally handle critical guest situations and complaints to ensure swift and effective resolution.
* Execute and oversee the completion of the night audit, ensuring that all revenues and charges are accurately recorded.
* Verify that check-in and check-out procedures are properly followed during the night shift.
* Conduct regular property walkthroughs to ensure safety, security, and order throughout the hotel.
* Manage emergency situations such as evacuations, first aid incidents, and security issues in accordance with established protocols.
* Monitor overbooking situations or unexpected changes in occupancy in coordination with the PMS system.
* Prepare the next day’s operational report.
* Prepare daily incident, activity, and closing reports for General Management.
* Ensure brand standards and service protocols are consistently upheld during the night.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or related field (or equivalent experience).
* Minimum of 1-2 years as Night Manager or Front Desk leader, preferably in a luxury or upscale hotel environment.
* Proficiency in PMS systems (such as Opera or similar).
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities; capable of motivating teams and handling guest situations with professionalism and empathy.
* Excellent English and Spanish communication skills; availability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
