This position demands a high degree of independence, accuracy, and attention to detail. The engineer will address a wide range of complex network issues, working on diverse problems with minimal supervision. This role requires a deep understanding of optical and IP networking, hardware technologies, and network management tools.**Scope:*** Resolve a wide range of network issues creatively and effectively.* Monitor the performance and health of optical and IP networks using advanced network management tools.* Tackle diverse and complex problems, applying sound judgment and innovative solutions.* Operate with minimal guidance on daily tasks, requiring only general instructions for new assignments.* Troubleshoot and resolve network issues to ensure minimal downtime and service disruptions.**Roles and Responsibilities:*** **Network Management:** + Manage and optimize hardware technologies to maintain network performance and capacity. + Engage in day-to-day troubleshooting, working with multiple vendor equipment, and resolving various software and hardware issues.* **Issue Resolution:** + Address network traffic issues and respond to queries raised by XFNs and partners. + Collaborate with XFNs and vendors to resolve network-related problems promptly and effectively. + Conduct root cause analysis for network outages, providing detailed reports and solutions.* **Cross-functional Collaboration:** + Work closely with service providers, colocation facilities, and XFNs globally, ensuring seamless network operations. + Support network infrastructure projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams on new network initiatives.* **Additional Duties:** + Take on other duties as required, contributing to the overall success and reliability of the network infrastructure.**Required Qualifications/Skills:*** Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from a four-year college or university, with 5 to 8 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.* Proven experience in optical networking (DWDM, CWDM) and IP networking (IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, BGP, OSPF).* Strong judgment in selecting appropriate methods and techniques for obtaining network solutions.* Comprehensive understanding of fiber-optic technology, including cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, and optical transport technologies.* Experience in preparing root cause analysis reports for network and server outages.* Strong communication skills, capable of effectively working with global service providers, colocation facilities, and ISPs.**Preferred Qualifications:*** Experience working in a multi-vendor network environment.* Relevant network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIP, OCA, or equivalent.**Physical Demands & Work Environment:*** Ability to perform office-related tasks, including prolonged sitting or standing.* Capability to move within an office environment and effectively use a computer.* Must have strong communication skills for effective collaboration and coordination.* Occasional repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers may be required.This position offers the opportunity to work independently on complex network operations tasks while playing a critical role in maintaining and optimizing a global network infrastructure.
