Role Description
This is a hybrid role. The successful candidate will attend the Tralee office and will be required to work rotational weekend shifts. The role reports to the Executive Director Network Engineer.
Responsibilities
Provide second‑level support for daily network infrastructure issues reported via the ServiceNow platform.
Analyze alerts and events reported by network management platforms and work with senior staff to resolve them.
Lead and manage network infrastructure projects.
Support system installations across all sites.
Provide day‑to‑day support to other IT teams and assist during project implementation.
Maintain the working condition of network infrastructure in Tralee “Telecommunication Rooms” and associated components.
Facilitate meetings with vendors to support network infrastructure components.
Test software, systems, or computer games for errors, identify sources of problems, and propose solutions.
Develop, implement, and document test plans for IT software and systems.
Create quality standards and validation techniques.
Provide recommendations concerning software and system quality.
Examine IT systems for potential security threats, develop disaster‑recovery plans, and report on breaches.
Provide support after normal business hours and during weekends; a shift schedule will be expected.
Qualifications and Skills
5‑8 years of professional experience.
Strong knowledge in configuration and troubleshooting of routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers (Palo Alto, Checkpoint, Cisco, F5, Gigamon).
Strong knowledge of routing protocols OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, NAT, LACP, CDP, UDLD, VPC, DNS, DHCP.
Understanding of network design for LAN, MAN, WAN, SD‑WAN, SD access, and Wi‑Fi networks.
Proficiency troubleshooting networking issues across OSI layers 1‑7 for data, voice, and video.
Knowledge of network management platforms such as Cisco ISE, Cisco DNAC, SolarWinds, Logic Monitor, NetBrain.
Experience with automation via Ansible and Python.
Ability to support mixed data, voice, and video networks.
Capability to perform independent tasks and complete projects.
Skill to perform copper and fiber cable structure work.
Knowledge of cloud infrastructure components support and configuration.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for incident, task, and project reporting.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
