Speech and Language Therapist
My client a busy Hospital in Dublin are looking for a Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist, They will deliver a high-quality, evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy service toadult inpatientswithin an acute hospital setting. The post-holder will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of a broad range ofcommunication and swallowing disorders, with a strong emphasis ondysphagia.
Responsibilities of Speech and Language Therapist
* Assess and manage adult patients with communication impairments, including aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia of speech, and cognitive-communication disorders.
* Perform bedside assessments of swallowing function and provide safe, person-centred dysphagia management.
* Participate in or support instrumental assessments of swallowing (e.g., VFSS or FEES) where applicable.
* Develop and implement individualised care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Provide timely and appropriate recommendations regarding diet modifications, alternative communication strategies, and referrals.
* Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, dietetics, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and radiology teams.
* Attend ward rounds, case conferences, and discharge planning meetings as required.
* Liaise with community services to support safe discharge and continuity of care.
* Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in line with hospital and CORU standards.
* Engage in continuous professional development and remain up to date with current research and best practices.
* Contribute to quality improvement, audits, and clinical governance activities within the SLT department.
Requirements of Speech and Language Therapist
* Recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy and registration withCORUas a Speech and Language Therapist.
* Clinical experience in the assessment and management of adults withdysphagiaand communication disorders.
Desirable Criteria:
* Postgraduate training in dysphagia management (e.g., FEES or VFSS).
* Experience in anacute hospitalor similar healthcare setting.
* Familiarity with Irish healthcare systems and discharge pathways.
