The Role:
The board of Foscadh Housingis seeking a trustee with a HR background. If you have experience in this area and want to play a role in helpingFoscadh Housing we’re keen to hear from you.
General Trustee duties of a Charity Trustee
* Comply with the charity’s governing document
* Ensuring charity is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit
* Acting in the best interest of the charity
* Act with reasonable care and skill
* Manage the assets of the charity
HR Trustee responsibilities will include the following:
* Review our HR policies, procedures, and strategies to ensure that they remain current.
* Provide oversight, and strategic input, drawing from experience in HR or other sectors.
* Support initiatives that maintain a motivated and engaged workforce.
* Promote diversity and oversee policies that foster an inclusive work environment.
Required Skills & Qualities:
* Strong knowledge of HR principles, including employment law, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, training, and compliance.
* Familiarity with labour laws and industry-specific regulations to ensure legal compliance.
* Ability to work collaboratively with board members, HR professionals, and the Foscadh Senior Executive Team.
* A legal qualification would be an asset.
* Capacity to commit fully to the role.
* Prior board experience would be desirable, particularly with a not for profit.
* Deep commitment to and understanding of community development and the work of Foscadh Housing.
Board Meetings:
There will be six board meetings a year. Meetings are held in-person but can be attended via Zoom as necessary. In-person meetings take place at The City North Hotel and at Foscadh Housing’s offices in Drogheda, Co Louth. Meetings are typically held in the evenings, starting at 4pm and last approximately two hours.
Committee Meetings:
There are two board committees: the Audit Risk Assurance Committee (ARAC) and the Development Mergers Acquisitions Committee (DMAC). The committees meet four times a year. Trustees are expected to join one of the two committees.
