Business Services Manager Permanent Full Time 37 Hours per week An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Services Manager to join the Bon Secours Hospital in Galway, part of the Bon Secours Health System Ireland's Largest Private Healthcare provider.
Position Summary: This is a new, strategic, and high-impact leadership role within BSHG.
The Business Services Manager (BSM) will serve as a member of the Hospital Management Team (HMT), reporting directly to the CEO.
This position combines strategic growth, market development, consultant engagement, and internal operational oversight.
The BSM will be pivotal in defending and growing market share, driving utilisation across key departments (theatre, cath lab, endoscopy, MAU, radiology), improving internal efficiency, and enhancing patient access and experience through strong partnerships with Consultants, GPs, and public health agencies.
Core Responsibilities: The role encompasses six key areas of responsibility, each carrying a defined weighting to reflect its strategic importance.
These weightings provide a clear guide to the expected prioritisation of time, effort, and impact across the portfolio, which are subject to change as the role develops.
1. Strategic and Business Development - 30% of the role, reflecting the critical importance in shaping the direction of services
2. Consultant Engagement and Planning - 30% of the role, reflecting the critical importance in supporting effective workforce engagement and planning.
3. Operational Leadership - 10% of the role, focused on ensuring continued effective day-to-day performance and service delivery.
4. Market and GP Relations - 15% of the role, underscoring the need for strong external relationships and alignment with service demands.
5. Public and Private Sector Engagement - 5% of the role, indicating a more targeted but nonetheless important responsibility in liaising across sectors to support broader system objectives.
6. Financial and Resource Management - 10% of the role, requiring sound oversight of budgets and resource deployment.
Qualifications and Experience: Essential: A degree in Business, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years' senior management experience in a hospital or healthcare setting, preferably in a private environment.
Proven track record of delivering performance improvement, particularly revenue and EBITDA.
Experience in financial oversight, budgeting, and business case development.
Desirable: Master's Degree in Business or Healthcare Management, or a related field.
Experience working in public-private healthcare interface roles.
Knowledge of healthcare dynamics in the West and North-West.
Skills and Competencies: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
Strategic thinker with a results-oriented approach.
High-level communication and report-writing skills.
Ability to manage complex relationships across consultants, clinicians, insurers, and public agencies.
