Position Overview
Autodesk is on a journey to transform its business through our platform strategy and is seeking a Software Architect to help us achieve this. Our goal is to deliver trustworthy, dependable, and performant solutions while addressing security, privacy, and cost concerns.
As Software Architect, reporting to the Senior Distinguished Architect, you will identify, assess, prioritize, and drive projects that realize Autodesk's platform vision and transform industries. This is a high-impact role crucial to shaping our systems and practices as we transition from a product to a platform company.
This role can be hybrid or remote, aligned with our Dublin, Ireland, or Cambridge, UK offices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate across Autodesk to understand architectural challenges, articulate opportunities, and foster trust.
2. Drive technical standards and approaches.
3. Work with leadership to articulate current architecture and inform future investments with data-driven arguments.
4. Assess development and operational practices focusing on privacy, security, and resilience.
5. Propose and promote adoption of architectural standards and practices.
6. Coordinate with various teams through effective communication.
7. Provide input on architectural challenges and design directions in collaboration with peers.
8. Lead resolution of complex problems, integrating cross-functional processes.
9. Contribute to working groups addressing architectural challenges.
10. Maintain expert knowledge of architectural patterns, technologies, and trends.
11. Bring innovative architectural thinking to practice.
12. Support configuration management and deployment strategies.
13. Advocate industry best practices.
14. Influence leadership to adopt solutions and allocate resources.
15. Anticipate business challenges and develop proactive solutions.
16. Advise on Autodesk and AWS technologies, including databases, compute frameworks, CI/CD, and regional strategies.
17. Present and share work internally via conferences, mentoring, and seminars. Travel to at least four international meetings annually is required.
Minimum Qualifications
1. 15+ years of experience as a software engineer/architect.
2. 5+ years in a senior architecture role within a SaaS platform strategy.
3. Proficiency in Java, Python, Golang, and other languages.
4. Experience developing cloud architectures on AWS or other clouds, with managed services like RDS, Aurora, ECS, Lambda.
5. Experience improving CI/CD processes with tools like Jenkins and Harness.
6. Self-directed with strategic and efficient work habits.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Innovation recognized through patents, publications, or conference presentations.
2. Experience leading a transition from product-centric to platform-centric models.
3. Expertise in large-scale, resilient cloud solutions.
4. Leadership in impactful initiatives.
5. Proven ability to develop cutting-edge solutions and influence cross-functional teams.
Background in creating scalable solutions for multiple business functions is desirable.
