Purpose of the role
To minimise the bank's losses on troubled loans by actively working to restructure, recover, or dispose of delinquent or non-performing loans, they are the bank's financial detective, uncovering the reasons behind loan defaults, negotiating repayment plans, and implementing solutions to maximize recoveries.
Accountabilities
* Identification and analysis of delinquent or restructured loans with deteriorating financial conditions.
* Analysis of borrower's financial statements, business plans, and market conditions to assess repayment potential.
* Monitoring and tracking of the performance of workout plans, ensuring compliance with agreed-upon terms.
* Development and proposition of comprehensive workout plans that balance recovery maximisation with borrower viability.
* Negotiation and finalisation of settlements or pursue litigation as necessary, in line with bank policies and regulations.
* Operation of an effective control environment to ensure compliance with relevant bank policies and regulations.

Join our team as a Special Asset Management AVP
This role provides an opportunity for the successful candidate to join a dynamic team which manages distressed exposures across a wide range of sectors, regions, and products. In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting the VP in the delivery of workout & restructuring outcomes, turnaround and managed exit strategies whilst also facilitating the maintenance of robust systems and controls that deliver high quality and consistent data integrity. Your work will directly influence how Barclays manages complex or higher‑risk exposures, ensuring strong credit discipline and proactive portfolio management. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop quickly, gain exposure to senior stakeholders, and build a strong foundation in credit risk within a high‑performing team.
To be successful as a Special Asset Management AVP, you should have experience with:
* Prior exposure to corporate banking, credit, or leveraged finance.
* Credit risk analysis and writing clear, structured credit reviews.
* Experience in data analysis and financial modelling to support informed credit decisions.
* Managing and maintaining accurate portfolio data and system updates.
* Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and collaborate across teams.
