NexVentur is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join our clients' team on a Commercial Build project in Athlone.
Working with a well established civil engineering and commercial building contractor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the project is executed to the highest standards of accuracy, safety, and quality.
This role offers a strong opportunity to work on diverse, high-profile regional projects, ranging from large-scale commercial developments to critical civil infrastructure. You will act as the primary technical point of contact on site, bridge the gap between design and execution, and work closely with project managers, sub-contractors, and site crews.
Role & Responsibilities
As a Site Engineer, your day-to-day duties will encompass technical setting out, quality control, and site supervision:
Establish accurate lines, levels, and control points on site using GPS, Total Stations, and levelling equipment in accordance with construction drawings.
Review, interpret, and cross-reference architectural and engineering drawings, identifying and resolving any discrepancies before construction begins.
Monitor construction works to ensure compliance with design specifications, building regulations, and company quality standards. Maintain strict quality records and "as-built" documentation.
Actively promote and enforce a positive health and safety culture on-site, ensuring all activities comply with statutory regulations and company policies.
Assist the Site Agent/Project Manager in supervising site operatives and sub-contractors, ensuring productivity aligns with the project schedule.
Assist in checking and ordering materials, ensuring quantities are accurate and deliveries match site schedules to prevent delays.
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical competence, practical site experience, and strong communication skills:
A degree or higher diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
2 - 4+ years of experience working as a Site Engineer, ideally with a recognised main contractor across civil engineering or commercial build projects.
Proven capability in setting out using modern engineering equipment (e.g., Leica Total Station, Trimble GPS). Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office suite is essential.
Solid understanding of Irish Building Regulations, BCAR (Building Control Amendment Regulations) processes, and health and safety legislation.
Problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and clients.
A proactive mindset with the ability to manage time efficiently on a busy site.
Valid Safe Pass, Manual Handling certificate, and a full, clean Irish driving license required.
