Senior R&D Engineer – Medical Devices
10-Month Contract
Location: Fully Onsite
Salary: €65,000 – €81,000 pro rata
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior R&D Engineer to join a high-performing Product Design Engineering team, supporting cross-functional technical projects across all stages of the new product development lifecycle.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative medical technologies, working from early-stage concept generation through to commercialization.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and support product development activities across all phases of the design process, from concept generation through verification, validation, and commercial launch.
Design and develop innovative medical devices to address unmet clinical needs.
Translate user and customer requirements into practical engineering solutions and product concepts.
Develop prototypes and evaluate design concepts through testing and analysis.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Clinical, and Supply Chain functions.
Drive technical innovation and contribute to the advancement of new technologies and product platforms.
Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks throughout the product development lifecycle.
Apply engineering principles, materials knowledge, and an understanding of anatomy and physiology to develop robust product designs.
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support project objectives.
Support design improvements, troubleshooting activities, and sustaining engineering initiatives for existing products.
Contribute to intellectual property generation, including invention disclosures and patent activities.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to junior engineers and project team members.

Key Skills & Experience

Bachelor's Degree (Level 8 or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a product development engineering role within the medical device industry.
Proven experience working within cross-functional teams and driving projects to successful completion.
Strong understanding of medical device development processes and design controls.
Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), Six Sigma methodologies, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and structured problem-solving techniques.
Ability to translate customer, clinical, or user feedback into innovative product concepts and engineering solutions.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, solve complex technical challenges, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
