Purpose of the Post
The purpose of the post is to join the existing social work team in providing a social work service to the Psychiatry of Later Life and long-term mental health units. The focus of the role is to improve the health and social wellbeing of the service users through individual and group work and liaison with family and community-based services. The role provides an opportunity to work in energetic and committed multidisciplinary teams with a strong person-centred approach based on evidence-based treatments and a biopsychosocial model.
Eligibility Criteria
* National Qualification in Social Work (N.Q.S.W.) or Certificate of Qualification in Social Work awarded by the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work, U.K. or an equivalent qualification recognized for appointment to the post of Senior Social Worker in Ireland.
* Must be registered in the Social Work Register maintained by the Social Work Registration Board (CORU);
* Maintain live annual registration on the Social Workers Register maintained by the Social Workers Registration Board at CORU.
* Must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
Desirable
* Previous clinical experience working in Psychiatry of Later Life / Care of Older Persons.
* Previous experience with group facilitation and a particular interest in groupwork would be preferable.
