Job Description We are looking for a Senior SDET who views testing as an engineering challenge.
You will be designing and building the sophisticated test infrastructure required to validate ASTRO P25 hardware and software.
You are responsible for engineering the tools that guarantee reliability for the mission-critical communications used by global emergency services.
This is a high-impact role for an engineer who enjoys building custom tooling, working with hardware-software interfaces, and improving engineering velocity through sophisticated automation.
Responsibilities Architect Test Infrastructure: Design, develop, and maintain our proprietary in-house test frameworks and hardware-abstraction layers.
Tooling Development: Build internal tools and libraries that enable developers and testers to interact with RF components and Android system services.
Android Systems Automation: Lead the technical strategy for Android testing using Appium, focusing on deep-system integration rather than just UI flows.
Infrastructure as Code: Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab/Jenkins) to ensure quality is a gate, not a post-process.
Data Engineering: Design data models to capture low-level test telemetry and build high-level dashboards for product health visibility.
Technical Leadership: Act as a bridge between Software Development and QA, mentoring the team on design patterns, code review standards, and system architecture.
Basic Requirements Software Engineering Foundation: B.S. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with a strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
Advanced Coding: Proficiency in Java, Python, C#, or C++.
You should be comfortable contributing to a production codebase, not just writing scripts.
Systems Thinking: 4+ years of experience building custom test harnesses, frameworks, or developer tools from the ground up.
