Job Overview
The Heavy Metal Fabrication Specialist will work as part of a production team, operating a press brake and guillotine. Key responsibilities include:
* Meeting production targets as per weekly plans
* Reviewing job files for doors & metalwork, as guided by the Team Leader
* Coordinating jobs with Fabrication Operatives
* Ensuring correct tooling is used on all jobs in a safe and efficient manner
* Liaising with the Team Leader for tool maintenance
* Working as a backup operator for other CNC machines
* Performing quality checks during production and following procedures when defective parts are discovered
* Troubleshooting programs
* Preparing products before fabrication/delivery
* Using tablets to access work instructions and technical drawings
* Inspecting parts to ensure they meet specifications
* FOLLOWING safety procedures and reporting hazards
* Supporting other areas, such as laser cutting or turret punching
* Operating CNC machines and computers
* Lifting materials and handling repetitive tasks
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Experience in heavy metal fabrication
* A background in engineering and/or production environment
* Accredited craft training/qualification
* Excellent technical and organizational skills
* Attention to detail
* Promoting high standards of quality and health and Safety
* Customer focus
* Knowledge and mindset of lean manufacturing
* Ability to read drawings
* Good computer skills (e.g., Excel/Word)
* Cost awareness and time management
