Position: People, Cost Manager - Construction at Portakabin
Location: Donabate, Dublin, Ireland (must be based in Ireland with experience in the Irish construction sector)
Base pay range
Salary: up to €80,000 + Company Car + 10% Yearly Bonus (based on business area targets)
Role summary
You are a driven and experienced People, Cost Manager with strong negotiation skills and a collaborative attitude. In this senior role, you will manage the cost estimation process, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all estimates, while leading a team of estimators in Donabate.
Key responsibilities
* Lead and develop a team of 3 estimators; provide guidance, support, and leadership to drive professional excellence in estimating.
* Manage cost estimation processes; coordinate with internal/external stakeholders and ensure bids comply with company policies and client requirements.
* Implement quality control procedures and develop BID documentation, Project BOQ and budgets.
* Evaluate contractor and supplier bids; deliver category awards; lead value engineering exercises to optimise project costs without compromising quality.
* Support procurement by preparing cost estimates, derogations lists, and leading Contract Analysis.
* Develop Bid Documentation, Project BOQ and budgets; provide full estimating service to support Commercial leads in defining Scope of Modular Hire Projects.
* Maintain involvement across multiple projects, focusing on exact requirements for specific opportunities.
Essential criteria
* Proven experience as a people manager, leading, developing, and motivating teams.
* Proven experience in the Irish construction market/sector.
* Experience managing subcontractors and negotiating estimates within construction.
* Strong understanding of costs, mark-ups and margins.
* Relevant degree or technical qualification; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualification.
* Passion for change, innovation, and growth of the team and function.
As a Senior Cost Manager, you will
* People manage 3 estimators and lead the estimating function in support of Sales and Hire within the Irish Business Unit.
* Oversee cost estimation processes and ensure timely, accurate submissions.
* Lead or contribute to bid documentation, budgets and cost analysis; support procurement and contract analysis activities.
