The Retail Operations & Store Development Category Specialist will lead category activities across spend, developing and executing procurement strategies to add value for Primark.
What You’ll Do
Lead and contribute to strategic category management, sourcing, supplier and risk management for assigned categories across both business‑as‑usual and strategic programmes, increasing spend under management and value for Primark.
Develop and execute comprehensive, multi‑year category plans that align with business goals, market dynamics and internal demand to ensure optimal performance, cost savings and risk mitigation.
Generate ideas, identify opportunities and lead initiatives that drive long‑term cost efficiency and value creation within your category, supporting the overarching multi‑year cost efficiency programme.
Use insights and analytics to create cost‑saving plans and sourcing strategies aligned with business goals, fostering innovation and agility.
Nurture effective relationships with GBS offshore partners and support integration into category ways of working.
Engage and align with business stakeholders to ensure GBS partners receive the information, data and requirements needed to execute sourcing plans.
Operate within the procurement operating model, partnering with GBS and adhering to procurement policies and governance frameworks.
Monitor supplier performance for strategic partnerships, maintaining strong relationships to drive cost savings, continuous improvement, innovation, sustainability and other value beyond price.
Monitor market trends, supply dynamics and emerging risks to adjust category strategies.
Promote the use of digital tools and analytics to drive insights, process efficiency and spend transparency.
What You’ll Bring
5+ years of relevant procurement experience.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring alignment on critical objectives.
Experience and knowledge in category management (highly advantageous).
Strong understanding of procurement processes, policy and systems.
Experience working within fast‑paced, matrixed organisations.
Experience developing strategic partnerships with key suppliers.
Capability to meet deadlines and prepare regular progress and performance reports.
Knowledge of financial, legal and commercial contracts, sustainability/CSR and ethical sourcing.
Willingness to travel as required (approximately 15%).
