As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will provide technical leadership in PLC communications, vision, and RFID communications. You will drive activities with suppliers to ensure automation and software support scale to meet increased volumes within ADC requirements. You will lead technical and validation engineering teams, interfacing with product teams, department managers, equipment manufacturers, R&D, quality, and regulatory personnel. This role is based at our TPM in Fermoy, Cork, with project-related travel up to 30%.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the implementation and management of engineering modifications to enhance operational effectiveness.
2. Devise and execute creative strategies for complex engineering challenges, leveraging advanced technical expertise.
3. Lead and design engineering studies and experiments involving multiple variables to achieve robust solutions.
4. Evaluate complex issues, determine effects, and calculate probabilities for informed decision-making.
5. Establish comprehensive design and process specifications aligned with business objectives.
6. Ensure timely completion of documentation adhering to corporate standards.
7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet company goals.
8. Adhere to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations, policies, and procedures.
9. Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
10. Demonstrate self-drive, adaptability, and willingness to work extended hours to meet deadlines.
11. Practice effective time management and resource planning.
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
2. Minimum of 6 years of engineering and/or operational experience.
3. Proficiency in PLC programming with Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Codesys control systems.
4. In-depth knowledge of Cognex vision systems.
5. Familiarity with RFID communication systems.
6. Experience in developing and executing software testing plans.
7. Knowledge of FAT, SAT, commissioning, and validation processes for high-speed automation equipment.
