Summary:
Based in Dublin with occasional travel to other depots throughout the ROI and NI required.
Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, this role offers an exciting opportunity to develop expertise in developing and implementing the company's Health & Safety procedures and management systems to exceed legal and corporate compliance requirements.
The successful candidate will assist in developing, managing, and delivering safety-related training to all staff levels on topics including procedural requirements, incident investigation, risk assessment, and safety inspections/audits.
The H&S Officer will promote and maintain a health & safety culture within the company and will be involved in various site activities, especially related to logistics in the food catering industry.
Training will be provided on all aspects of the H&S management systems to ensure understanding of our business.
Key Accountabilities:
* Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture within the company.
* Assist in developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures aligned with legislation and best practices.
* Ensure effective risk assessments and risk reduction programs are in place.
* Conduct regular internal health and safety inspections and audits, facilitate external audits when needed.
* Manage departmental programs, tasks, objectives, and goals.
* Track actions and ensure timely closure, escalating issues as needed.
* Monitor health and safety performance using metrics, and take decisive action when required.
* Identify, organize, and deliver training to management and staff.
* Ensure a robust incident investigation process, leading investigations as necessary.
* Review incident data and trends to implement corrective actions.
* Facilitate meetings with stakeholders, document minutes, and track actions.
Requirements:
* Graduate Diploma (Level 8) in Occupational Safety, Health and Welfare.
* At least 3 years' experience in a health and safety-focused environment.
* Knowledge of ISO standards, especially ISO 45001:2018.
* Training, delivery & evaluation (QQI 6) or instructor training is advantageous.
* Experience working within an FMCG business.
* Proficient in MS Office.
* Attention to detail, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
* Ability to produce concise reports, procedures, and policies.
* Full clean driving license and own car.
* Flexibility for shift work and travel.
